Dr. Lorena Contreras Taibo obtained her PhD in Psychology (Universidad de Buenos Aires) and Masters in Needs and Rights of Children and Adolescents (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and UNICEF). She is currently an associate professor and Postgraduate Director of the Faculty of Psychology at the Universidad Diego Portales in Santiago, Chile. She is a member of the Legal Clinic of Curators ad Litem, which is dedicated to the judicial representation of children and adolescents. Dr. Taibo was in charge of the team that designed the Victim Support Centers, assuming its implementation. She has also been coordinator of the Center for Assistance to Victims of Sexual Attacks. As the author of theoretical contributions and research related to issues of childhood and adolescence and victimology, she has published several books and dozens of scientific articles in her specialty.
Dr. Taibo has received the Benjamin Mendelsohn Young Scholar Award 2024 (World Society of Victimology), the National Award of the Specialty of Legal and Forensic Psychology, the recognition of the Argentine Society of Victimology, and she has been chosen as one of the 100 young Chilean leaders. Currently, she is a co-investigator of the Psychology Group of the multidisciplinary research network, “Ibero-American Epistemological Perspective of Justice” of the Ibero-American Institute of the Hague for Peace, Human Rights and International Justice.
